Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Such an Noob...

Okay, okay... one would think by now I'd know how to use this computer thing but think again. I'm sure this is a simple and laughable question but here goes... once I've downloaded a show, where the heck do I find it in my computer? The obv place to me was "My Music" but hmmm... nope. Any and all help is greatly appreciated as I am finding I more completely define the term "computer illiterate" with each passing day.

Thanks and peace.

When you first hit the VBR ZIP icon under "Download", you should have then been prompted with a box asking you if you wanted to open or save the file. If you then hit "Save", it will ask you where you want to save it to, at which point you can direct it to "My Music", or create a subfolder for the specific show within "My Music". That's how I do it anyway. As for where it might be if you didn't specify where to save it to, I can't help with that one.

P.S. The file, once found, will need to be "unzipped" first before it can be transferred to your media player. If this is unfamiliar territory, many here will gladly help.

I'll bet you ask all the boys to unzip your files. Perv.

What took you so long? And aren't you violating your own anti-hijaking treatise?

And if there is anyone out there who knows a thing or two about violating, it's me.

Ha! Beat you to it. However, I can now expect lenghty references to the off-color uses of the word "beat" and myself.

you might be able to run a search

find out the file name of one of the song files - enter that information into the "search" box, and let the computer find it for you.

should work (?)

Shake it upside down until the desired file falls out.

OOH OOH AAH AAH! Caveman tech-support!

Yeah, a search of your harddrive should find the files.

Go to START
Select SEARCH
Enter .SHN(or.FLAC or .mp3, depending on the file-type you dl'd) as the search criteria.....

should work.

Simply download a new music file and watch the prompt this time--that will alert you. Meanwhile, check my documents.

I don't know how many times my computer has changed its mind about where to store a dl; but it's almost always desktop or "my documents."

Given multiple ways to find my download I was successful in doing so. Going the "save" route and selecting where I want the download to go rather than "open" option has proven to be much easier. Thanks again to all who helped. I'm highly anticipating becoming a part of your community. Peace.
